i5/OS Integration

AS/400 Adapters

TIBCO Adapters provide pre-built integration with target systems and can be used by Web services created in TIBCO BusinessWorks™. The following i5/OS (AS/400) adapters are available:

  • TIBCO Adapter for IBM AS/400
  • TIBCO Adapter for Files – AS/400

TIBCO Adapter for IBM AS/400

The TIBCO Adapter for IBM AS/400 allows publish or subscribe or request-response message exchanges between TIBCO applications and applications running on an i5/OS (iSeries) machines. This adapter is built on the TIBCO Adapter SDK and messaging backbone.

Support is provided for:

  • Invoking programs on i5/OS
  • Enabling applications running on i5/OS to send outbound messages and optionally receive a reply
  • Writing messages to a data queue
  • Reading messages from a data queue
  • Retrieving a spooled files list
  • Converting a spooled file to a PDF format

TIBCO Adapter for Files (AS/400)

TIBCO Adapter for Files (AS/400) provides bi-directional access between files on i5/OS (AS/400) and the TIBCO messaging infrastructure. It is typically used to transfer files from i5/OS to applications resident on other platforms. It's especially useful in batch environments but can also be used in real-time.

TIBCO Rendezvous Messaging

You can use TIBCO Rendezvous to message-enable i5/OS (iSeries) applications. This integration, which is via standard Rendezvous C and Java APIs, provides a very fast and efficient messaging service that installs easily and quickly.

Support is provided for:

  • Publishing and subscribing from applications
  • Distributed queues
  • Certified message delivery
  • Enhanced features such as multicasts, border routing and point-to-point applications

TIBCO Enterprise Message Service

Application running on i5/OS can use industry-standard APIs to interact with TIBCO Enterprise Message Service™ servers.

Supports:

  • Publishing and subscribing from applications
  • JMS-compliant messages in addition to TIBCO Rendezvous® and Enterprise Message Service-compliant messages
  • Certified message delivery
  • Reliable (topic), guaranteed and transactional (queues) message delivery

System Monitoring with TIBCO Hawk

TIBCO Hawk, which is distributed IT monitoring and management software, can be used by companies running i5/OS systems. Support is provided for agents, which monitor and act upon local operating conditions, and micro-agents, which act as an interface to managed applications.
